Case Study

Mining operators often lose up to 10–20% of valuable minerals during flotation. Conventional systems max out at around 90% recovery, leaving significant value behind. Eriez Manufacturing Australia partnered with Robuschi to close this gap. Their goal: develop a high-efficiency flotation system capable of recovering minerals that traditional setups miss.

The challenge was finding a blower that could deliver over 1 bar of pressure—far beyond the 35–75 kPa range of standard units. Robuschi’s ROBOX WS 45/2P-2F-HP rotary screw blower met the demand, offering oil-free operation, high pressure, and low power consumption.

How Robuschi Delivered

  • Custom Engineering: Robuschi collaborated with Eriez to design a blower package tailored to extreme site conditions, including ambient temperatures up to 50°C.
  • High Pressure, Low Energy: The ROBOX screw blower delivers up to 2.5 bar G with minimal energy use, thanks to its low-speed rotor profile.
  • Durability: Internal coatings resist oxidation, and the system’s robust build reduces maintenance frequency and cost.
  • Fast Deployment: Robuschi met tight deadlines and budget constraints, delivering a fully customized solution with specialty coatings and integrated electronics.

Results & Expansion

The pilot system has run continuously since commissioning, meeting all performance and reliability targets. Eriez is now collecting final recovery data to support broader deployment across multiple sites.
