Barilla and Robuschi
Barilla needed a way to scale its global pasta and baked goods production without compromising quality or sustainability. The company faced three core challenges: maintaining product integrity during pneumatic conveying, reducing energy and maintenance costs, and managing wastewater treatment efficiently. Robuschi, an Ingersoll Rand company, delivered solutions that addressed all three.
At Barilla’s flagship site in San Pedrignano di Parma, Robuschi’s ROBOX evolution blower and screw compressor units became central to the production process. The blower transports 15 tonnes of durum wheat flour per hour, while the screw compressors move 60 tonnes of mixed ingredients to the pasta production area. These systems operate oil-free (ISO 8573-1 Class 0), maintain low temperatures, and run at low rotation speeds—minimizing wear and cutting maintenance costs.
In Castiglione delle Stiviere, six ROBOX screw units handle sugar and flour conveying for baked goods. Their energy efficiency (up to 20% savings vs. traditional systems), quiet operation, and low service costs make them ideal for scheduled maintenance cycles.
Barilla also uses Robuschi blowers for wastewater aeration at its Rubbiano sauce plant. Installed decades ago, these units continue to perform reliably, underscoring the long-term value of the partnership.
